Our Story

For more than 12 years, a small team of dedicated women have given their time, love and resources to caring for Durban’s feral cats.

It started with a simple mission: to care for the cats that others had forgotten.

Rose Magic, Pauline Tribe and Sherryl Bradfield dedicate their mornings to feeding and caring for feral cat colonies along Durban’s beachfront and around the Suncoast Casino area.

Their days begin at 4am, before heading off to their regular jobs. Every cat is known, fed and cared for 365 days a year, including Christmas Day.

Through an ongoing sterilisation programme, the established colonies are prevented from growing. Sadly, abandoned cats and kittens continue to arrive, making the work of St Francis Carers as important as ever.

Our Mission

The only way to save 100 cats is to sterilise one.

Sterilisation is at the heart of St Francis Carers’ work, helping to prevent feral colonies from growing while continuing to feed, protect and care for the cats already there.
